- Drill in establishment and management of refuge points, smooth supply of meals and water.
Drill in securing roads for emergency transportation
Anti-disaster organizations cooperate with each other to stage traffic regulation drills, securing roads for emergency transportation and rapid conveyance of emergency staff, to deal with traffic paralysis on land and at sea caused by collapsed buildings or quays, abandoned cars, and influxes of cars and ships for evacuation and rescue.
- Drill in traffic regulation and emergency transportation (e.g.., clearing and restoration of roads, removal of abandoned cars, regulation of cars and ships, prevention of traffic paralysis should traffic signals fail).
- Drill in emergency transportation with emphasis on mutual support and optimum use of various means of transportation (e.g.., cars, ships, aeroplanes) wide-area emergency transportation across prefecture boundaries, and conveyance of the seriously injured.
Drills in areas threatened by tsunami, landslides or flooding
In areas of threatened danger (e.g.., tidal wave, landslides, flood), the drills are staged as follows, with efforts made to obtain the cooperation of residents and tourists, in view of the specific situation in each area.
- Drill in locations threatened by tsunami for initial-stage evacuation of residents, tourists, ships, etc., and sea rescue
- Drill in coastal observation once safety is assured, and communication and issue of the tidal wave warning and evacuation advice.
- Drill in evacuation of residents from the areas in danger of landslide or flood, also rescue and first-aid.
Drill in confusion-avoidance
a) In order to avoid a disturbance of public order in places where many people converge (e.g.., railway terminals, shopping centres, underground shopping centres, high-rise buildings) and people are apt to feel anxious, anti-disaster organizations, companies, visitors and residents stage joint drills in communication and publication
